Privacy
Read My Menu is a private app for a small household. This page explains what it stores and who else sees it.
Who can use it
You sign in with Google. The app receives your name and email address from Google, and only accounts the owner has added can use it. It never sees your Google password and asks for no other Google data.
What it stores
- Your name and email address, to recognise you.
- The profiles you enter for the people you eat with: the foods each person doesn't want, and spice preference. These can reveal health information such as allergies; they are used only to flag dishes and suggest orders. Allergy, diet and dislike fields saved by an earlier version are kept but no longer used.
- Menu photos you take. They are kept for up to 60 days and deleted with the menu.
- The text read from each menu, explanations, suggestions, corrections, and your orders, until you delete the menu.
- Menus and photos can remain on your phone for offline use until deleted or you sign out. Server photo expiry does not automatically erase offline copies.
Who else processes it
- Cloudflare hosts the app and its database.
- Anthropic receives menu photos for reading and menu text for explanations. Selected diners’ lists of foods they don't want are included when explaining dishes and requesting suggestions. A qualified fallback, when enabled, stays within Anthropic and is disclosed on the menu.
- ElevenLabs receives Japanese text when you tap Play, including order phrases. It uses the configured voice. Generated audio is cached for up to 90 days. If unavailable, the phone may use its own Japanese voice.
- Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons are asked for example photos of dish types when you request one; only the dish name is sent.
- Exchange rates come from public currency services; nothing about you is sent.
There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking cookies. The only cookie keeps you signed in.
Deleting your data
Deleting a menu removes its photos, text, and order. To have your account and profiles removed, ask the owner of this site.
